This isn't outlook / outlook express! We don't launch attachments automatically like they do. the next time you start thunderbird, the msg preview pane is disabled and does not load any messages.ītw, I've never heard of anyone getting a virus in thunderbird just by clicking on the message. So while this is not an option Tbird is still a big maybe with me and not something I would consider deploying within the company I work for. I have also seen several email clients where they have recieved large emails 25MB+ where having the preview pane open just causes the email client to crash. While I assume the virus threat in Tbird I would still feel safer without it.

Thunderbird version 102.0 is only offered as direct download from and not as an upgrade from Thunderbird version 91 or. As always, you’re encouraged to tell us what you think, or file a bug in Bugzilla. Check out the notes below for this version of Thunderbird. For me to use Tbird the preview pane needs to be able to be switched off as opposed to just hidden. Version 102.0, first offered to channel users on June 29, 2022. but what about mail that hasn't been marked (yet) as Junk? Once it's displayed in the preview pane, haven't I lost that battle against "web bug" HTML code? Now I know that there's a setting in Junk Mail Controls to "sanitize" HTML in displayed mail marked as Junk. Since clicking on the mail with the preview pane active will display the mail, I'm concerned about downloading images that the spammer might have put there to identify my e-mail address as active. Or, suppose I'm sure it's spam and want to mark it as such? Now, suppose something makes it into my Inbox that I think, but am not sure is spam. I'm still "training" the adaptive filters for Spam. Now, here's why I want to know about turning off the preview pane.

wowie, zowie, Thunderbird is already great! I'm running Mac OS X "Panther" and I'm pretty close to making Thunderbird my default e-mail client.
